We have two standard sign designs:
The mounted sign: It is 8 cm wide, 3 cm thick and as long as it needs to be for your name. It comes with brackets for an invisible fastening to a wall or a gate. (Requires two screws). We can also angle the back of the sign if you are planning to fix it on feather board as shown on the photo above.
Name/Sign Post: This chunky post measures 4 x 4 inches (10 x 10 cm approx) in green oak. Green oak is very suitable for outside use, and is what traditionally would be used for fence and gate posts. However it will split and twist as the wood is no yet seasoned. This will add to the character of the piece and look gorgeous as it weathers in position outside.
The height of the post depends on the length of engraving. We allow for approximately 18 inches to be set into the ground and a gap of about 2 ft from the end of the engraving to the ground. (The example shown has 28 characters engraved and the finished post measures approximately 6 ft.) All our signs are treated with at least three coats of teak oil. We recommend that you reapply oil regularly. As the signs weather the engraving will go darker in colour. We often take on commissions for one off signs, made to customers individual specification and we can engrave gates and benches in situ, locally. Please contact us for a quote. |
